Ever held the north poles of two magnets together? They fly apart with great force. Now this is exactly what the repulsive explosives does - except there's no magnets involved. The explosion hurls all entities away from the blast epicenter, and will probably do much harm if you're on a cliff. What's more, these can be placed under the ground to hurl players or mobs UP into the air, causing massive fall damage, and breaking their legs. Or their spine. Or both.
